Bertha Mae (Bert) Granlund of Oulu, Wisconsin was promoted to her heavenly home on June 29, 2014. Bert was born on August 17, 1928 on the family farm in Brule Township to Ira and Ruby (Hardy) Williams. She was a 1946 graduate of Waino High School. She worked as a waitress at the “Dutch Mill” in Superior until her marriage to William “Bill” Granlund on December 25, 1946. She and Bill operated the family dairy farm in Oulu that has been in the Granlund family since 1903 and Bert also worked for 11 years at Jeno’s Pizza crust factory in Superior as a machine operator. Bert accepted Christ as her Savior in 1950 and was a member of the Grace Baptist Church of Iron River (formerly Oulu Baptist Church) since 1950 and served 25 years as the Sunshine Chairperson of the Ladies Aid. Bert is survived by her five children; Sue (Jim) Vojacek of Oulu, Mike of Lakeside, Jim (Renie) of Iron River, Mark of Barnes, and Ruby Robinson of Carrolton, Georgia; 15 Grandchildren; Tony (Jen) Vojacek IV, Tonya (Matt) Sell, Melissa (Joe) Pajtash, Greg (Amy) Granlund, Laura (Carl) Snedker, David (Jen) Granlund, Ben Granlund, Billie (Macy) Granlund, Andy Granlund, Aimee Granlund, , Jericho (Brianne) Haust, Stephanie (Greg) Polkowski. Kyra Robinson, Ryan Robinson, and Chris (Allison) Robinson;Thirty great-grandchildren: Stazia, Riley, Asher, Jude, Emma, Hannah, Caleb, Isabelle, Trey, Kayla, Cory, Katie, Kyle, Tyler, Kierynn, Brielle, Tyrel, Kendra, Shawna, Jackson, Kaitlyn, Sammy, Everett, Savannah, Bethany, Rebecca, Grace, Oliver, Edith, and Josephine, with two more on the way.. Her surviving siblings include brothers George Williams and Dick (Dena) Williams of Superior, Billie (Lois) Williams of Maple, and sisters, Vi Whitmore, Duluth and Betty Welty of Iron Mountain, Michigan, her Aunt Emma Mika of Chippewa Falls. Special friends include Peggy, Scott, Lexi, and Kelcee Janigo, Tami Granlund, Cathy Lind, Irving Johnson, Donna Hipsher, Linda Lindahl, and Arnold and Gloria Johnson. She leaves behind many more special friends and relatives, all of whom she loved dearly. A Memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Iron River Community Center with visitation one hour prior beginning at Noon with Pastors Joe Brygger and Tom Blomberg officiating. A meal and fellowship will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Grace Baptist Church Building Fund or a Church of your choice.
