Clifford G. Martin III, 63, of Duluth, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at his childhood home surrounded by family on January 20, 2026, in Duluth, MN from ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). Cliff was born on February 10, 1962 in Duluth, Minnesota. He was the second child of Clifford G. Martin, Jr and Jean E. (Nolan) Martin.
Cliff graduated from Duluth East Senior High School in 1980, then he served in the US Navy. Upon his discharge, Cliff managed and cooked for various restaurants in the Twin Ports area for twenty-five years. In 1993, Cliff obtained 2 certifications from the Duluth Business University. After that, Cliff worked for the University of Minnesota, Duluth; however, due to his ALS diagnosis, he was forced to retire with twenty years of service. In 2025, Cliff was recognized as an Outstanding Staff of UMD.
Cliff was a devout Catholic and a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary in Duluth.
Cliff is preceded in death by his father, sister Julie A. White and brother-in-law Kenneth L. White. Cliff will be deeply missed by his mother, sister Catherine A. (Paul) Roseth, sister Lori E. Hendrickson, brother Gregory G. (Carrie) Martin, and extended family and friends.
Per Cliff’s wishes, a gathering will be held at Calvary Cemetery on July 3, 2026 at 10:00 am. Cliff was an incredibly hard working, detail-oriented person; and a genuine, compassionate, and loyal son, brother and friend to all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
