Arlen Stanley Olson born September 15, 1950 – died December 22, 2025. Arlen was born in Thief River Falls MN as the second child to Stanley and Phyllis Lorraine Olson. He grew up in the small logging town of Forest Center until the family relocated to Duluth. There, Arlen attended Duluth East High School, where he graduated in 1969. Afterwards, Arlen stayed in Duluth, working odds jobs in Duluth’s east end until he was hired on by trucking company Bathke. He bought a house in Lakeside, married, and had a son. He remained close to high school friends forming long lasting relationships and remaining in Lakeside for over fifty years. Arlen continued to pursue interests such as camping, fishing, hunting, watching the North Stars and Bulldogs play hockey, as well as Viking football, and cross country travel throughout the majority of his adult life. He was a very social and outgoing person who was found of making new connections. Arlen retired in the summer of 2009. He was a proud member of Local Teamsters 346. He continued to enjoy the outdoors, working in his garage, watching Vikings football, and taking cross country motorcycle trips with his friends. Since retiring, Arlen stayed active in his community. He offered his enclosed trailer to the Shriners for their annual onion sale, helped with the yearly class of 69 reunion gathering, and helped his neighbors with plowing, shoveling, lawn care, and keeping an eye on homes when people were out of town traveling. Arlen is preceded in death by his father, his younger brother Randy, and his younger sister Sheryl. He is survived by his mother, his son Brent, his older brother Alan, his younger brother Neil, sister in-law Terry, nephews Chris, Justin, and Nathan, and his niece Jennifer.
