Kristin Rydberg (1955–2025) Kristen Rydberg passed away on the afternoon of September 15, 2025 at The Waterview Shores, Two Harbors, Lake County, MN, just two days before her 70th birthday. She said goodbye to her son Jason, had a final visit from her friend, Janice Najar, and was comforted in her final moments by her brother Rob and sister-in-law Laura. Kristin was born September 17, 1955, in Rochester, MN, the fourth child and first-born daughter of Helen and John Rydberg of Preston, MN. She was in sixth grade when the family moved to Duluth and took up residence on Pike Lake. She graduated from Proctor High School in 1974. After high school, Kristin lived in Oakland and then El Cajon, CA, with her brother Ted and sister-in-law Mary, working in food service and door-to-door sales. She returned to MN and, inspired by her brother George, worked on the Great Lakes ore boats as a second cook. Kristin was an astute and hardworking businesswoman. Her first entrepreneurial venture was selling fruit bowls from her food truck at fairs and events. Later, she became the owner and manager of the Eagles Nest Resort on Fish Lake, where she raised her family. After her early retirement, she lived on a boat in Florida. Besides her son and grandchildren, oceanside living brought her the greatest joy. In 2009, in Florida, Kristin suffered a life-changing motor scooter accident that resulted in a traumatic brain injury, eventually requiring full-time nursing care. Kristin was preceded in death by her parents, her little sister Carol, and her older brother George. She is survived by her son, Jason Jauert, daughter-in-law Katie, her beloved grandchildren Lily, Adam, and Noah; and her stepchildren Wesley Jauert and Lindsay Tritabaugh. She took great pleasure in bragging about Jason’s Naval career aboard submarines. She is also survived by her brothers Rick of San Diego, CA; Ted and his wife Mary of Marana, AZ; Rob and his wife Laura of Centuria, WI; her sister Mary and her husband Jim of Richmond, TX; her sister-in-law Carol of New Hope, MN; and her many nieces and nephews. At her request her ashes will be spread in the ocean. In her memory a cenotaph will be placed at the Canosia Cemetery in Pike Lake. She was a wild child, strong and free, |
