Celebrating the life of Barbara Jean Nelson June 1, 1947 – April 10, 2025 She went to her heavenly home surrounded by family Thursday, April 10, 2025 at 12:05 am. Barbara was born June 1, 1947 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was a member of The Grand Portage of Lake Superior Chippewa Tribe, also known as The Grand Portage Anishinaabe or Ojibwe. 1,127 enrolled members. She loved spending time with family and friends. She loved parties, slumber parties, car rides and shopping. Most of all, Barbara loved pizza, pop and candy. Don’t forget about her favorite place – THE CASINO! She was always very lucky! She is survived by her daughters Angela and Denise. Grandkids: Drew Jean, Violet Sky, Mercedes and Joey. Great grandbaby Leo. Kaitlyn and Michael. Survived in death: Jo Laprairie (Her life partner), Wendy (Daughter) and many brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews. Josephine “Dorothy” Morrison-Laitinen (Mother) and Leo “Lawrence” Deschampe (Father).
