April 14, 1936 - December 23, 2024 1 p.m. Memorial Service for Shirley Terhell will be held on 3/27/25 in South St. Paul at Luther Memorial Church. |
Shirley Terhell, 88, of Hinckley, MN (formerly of South St. Paul), entered God’s kingdom on Dec. 23 2024, following a significant stroke a week prior. Born April 14, 1936, Shirl was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald L. Terhell (decd 2022) and dear son Todd (decd 1988). She is survived by her daughters, Vicky Terhell and Roxann (William Winter). Grandchildren Jessica, Erika and Valerie will also miss Grandma Shirl tremendously; great grandchildren Payten and Bentli. Shirley was a fighter who raised a family through a lifetime of her own adversity and struggle. She survived cancer twice as an elderly woman! She was an exceptional person with independence, resilience and strength that one can only have through faith; praise be to God. Her younger working years were spent as a Corporate Administrative Assistant/Office Specialist in the Twin Cities. Most recently, Shirl worked part-time as an assistant receptionist and greeter, locally at an elderly care facility. She was loved by employers, co-workers and residents. Shirl had a natural gift for making friends in any situation, and her infectious smile could brighten any room. In her leisure time, Shirl was a hugely talented artist with her crafts, hand-stitched greeting cards, beaded jewelry and basket weaving; she won many ribbons, awards and hearts with her talents. A woman of true integrity, Shirl stood firm in her beliefs devoting free-time and talents to her church and communities, rarely worrying about her own needs. Shirl was a selfless person whose impact will be forever felt by those who love her. Her ability to sacrifice, support, forgive, and love leaves an unfillable gap in the hearts of her family. A remembrance-memorial service will be held at Luther Memorial Church, SSP MN on (Spring date, time TBD). Donations can be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society MN (donate.cancer.org). Shirley’s family wish to acknowledge the excellent, gracious hospice care team at Essentia’s St Mary’s Duluth Hospital. Thank you for your gifts of comfort and kindness along with amazing medical skills – during Mom’s last days/week. |
