DENNIS LAROY SAVOY (February 27, 1938-December 23, 2024) Dennis Savoy age 86, of Duluth, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 23, 2024, at Solvay Hospice House, supported by his loved ones. Dennis was preceded in death, by his loving parents, Roman and Ruth Savoy (Superior, Wi.) He is survived by his wife Shirley(Gregorich)Savoy, daughter, Sherise(Richard)Morgan, son, Eric Soderberg and granddaughter, Lilia Morgan. Also survived by his brothers, Tim(Lois)Savoy, Scott(Lisa)Savoy, Todd(Pam)Savoy, sisters, RomaeAnn(John) Fontaine and Shawn(Brent)Larson, along with many nieces and nephews. Dennis was born in Superior, Wisconsin. He attended Superior Central High School and St. Croix High School – Solon Springs. He graduated from St. Croix High School in 1956, where he was a star athlete in football, basketball and baseball. After high school, he attended Wisconsin State College-Superior. He was a member of the Army Reserve, for several years and started employment at Great Northern RR, and eventually retired from Burlington Northern RR. On August 23 1986, Dennis married the love of his life, Shirley(Gregorich) Soderberg. They enjoyed many happy summer years in Duluth/Superior and winters in Mesa, Arizona. Dennis was a caring person, who loved life to the fullest, as long as competitive sports were involved. He excelled in almost every sport imaginable. Dennis had an early passion for bowling and put in the time to be the best he could be. He was inducted in the St. Paul and Minnesota Hall of Fame(1992), while being the anchor on the best team in the State(Hamms beer). Dennis also bowled for a short time, as a member of the Professional Bowlers Tour. When his family or friends were around, you could always find Dennis in the middle of a pool game, card game, or golf, competing for a few dollars on the side. The family is planning a “Celebration of Life” in the Spring of 2025. |
