A Celebration of Life for Vangie on September 14th, 2024 at 10am. Luncheon to follow.

Long time Proctor MN resident Evangeline, “Vangie” Herpel passed away May 1st in Carlton MN. Born July 12, 1941 to Joe & Magdalena Kaiser, she attended Streeter ND High School after which time she worked at the Jamestown Hospital. During this time she met & married Robert Nutt. After his death in 1972 she & the children moved to Proctor MN where she met & married Larry Herpel.
Vangie was an active member of the Forbes United Methodist Church where she was the church coordinator & shared Lead Usher duties with Larry. Vangie was a 21 year breast cancer survivor & supported & walked in many 3-Day Cancer walks & participated in baking & selling cookies, luminary preparation & fundraising. In her spare time she enjoyed jigsaw, seek-a-word & Yahtzee puzzles, making rice krispie bars, fudge & knoephla, cutting the grass, working on crafts, sending & receiving cards & letters, scribbling on anything, watching the MN Twins, talking on the phone & traveling to MD, ND & WI for family events & visits. Her favorite vacation was cruising in Alaska.
She leaves to mourn her children: Bob (Doree) and Holly (Ben); step children Randy (Maggie) Herpel & Dixie Finley; grandchildren: Aaron, Amanda, Amy, Andrea, Chad, Harley (Brian), Nick (Alysha) Rob (Jordan) & Scott;  great-grandchildren Addison; Benjamin, Boston, Jayla, Johnathan & Taylor; siblings: Rudy, Roger (Frankie), Jo (Vic), Stan (Carol) & Kelly; sister-in-law Janet (Jeff); special friends: Brent (Cindy) Wetzel & Jeanne (Dan) Glinski.
She is proceeded in death by her parents & grandparents; husbands Robert & Larry; sister Eileen; in-laws Albert & Sylvia; brother-in-law Darryl; sister-in-law Connie; pets Midnight & Snowball & special granddog Brutus.
Memorial Service to be held @ Forbes United Methodist Church Proctor is pending.
Private interment at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Saginaw MN. Cremation has taken place.
In liu of flowers, donations to the church or breast cancer foundation are preferred.
