In Loving Memory of Thomas Henry Leis 7/18/1950- 10/9/2026 Thomas ‘Tom’ Henry Leis age 76, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2026 in Superior, WI, leaving behind a family who loved him deeply and memories that will be cherished forever. Born in St. Paul, Minnesota, on July 18, 1950, to Willard and Appolonia (Mlecoch) Leis, Tom spent his youth in St. Paul and graduated from Harding High School in 1968. Throughout his life, Tom had an adventurous spirit that took him to various towns, including a memorable time spent in Durango, Colorado. For the past eight years, he made his home and found a peaceful anchor in Superior, Wisconsin. Tom was a tender-hearted, caring man who found joy in the simple things in life. He loved golfing, fishing, listening to music, and spending time in the beautiful mountains of Colorado, a place that held a special place in his heart. He enjoyed a good game of cribbage or chess and was always ready to challenge someone to a game. Whether it was a game of strategy or a day spent outdoors, Tom appreciated the moments that made life enjoyable. He also had a special love for animals, especially his beloved cat, Buttons, who brought him immense joy. Above all else, Tom’s family was his passion. His children and grandchildren were among his greatest joys, and the love he had for them was at the heart of who he was. He cared deeply for those closest to him, and his gentle nature and thoughtful spirit will be remembered in countless ways. The time spent together, the conversations shared, and the memories made will remain treasured reminders of the place he held in their lives. Tom dedicated many years of hard work as a courier for Federal Express before his retirement. He also proudly served his country in the United States Air Force Reserve—a honor and legacy of service that will always be remembered as an important part of his life’s story. Tom is survived by his son, Jesse (Maia) Leis; his daughters, Natasha (Kevin) Schmid, Kristin (Chris) Johnson, and Andrea Leis; nine beloved grandchildren; his sisters, Mary Pagenkopf and Rita Falzarano; his brothers, Joe (Lori) Leis and Marvin (Janece) KoLeis; and his sisters-in-law, Diane Leis and Sandy Leis. He is preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Appolonia Leis; his brothers, Gerald Leis and Bernard “Nick” Leis; and his brothers-in-law, Ronald Pagenkopf and Nick Falzarano. Though his passing brings great sadness, there is comfort in knowing Tom passed peacefully. He will be remembered in the beauty of the Colorado mountains, a quiet day spent fishing, a friendly challenge over cribbage or chess, the music he loved, and the many simple moments that brought him happiness. Tom’s life was filled with experiences, relationships, and memories that will live on through the people who loved him. His tender heart, caring spirit, and love for his family will never be forgotten. A memorial service to honor Tom’s life will be planned and announced at a later date. | |
