William Grant Percy II

Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 30, 2017, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1710 E Superior St., Duluth. Music in Bill’s honor will begin at 9:30, until the start of the 10:00 am Memorial Service. Memorials preferred to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church or a charity of your choice.

William Grant Percy II, 82, died Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth. He was born January 1, 1935 to Willis and Gladys (Davis) Percy in Davenport, Iowa.

Bill graduated from Edina High School and completed his studies for a Masters in Clinical Psychology at the University of Minnesota. He had a long and fulfilling career as a Psychologist up to his retirement in 2012. Bill was a long time member of the Minnesota Psychological Association.

When Bill was in third grade, he saw a pipe organ and told his parents ‘I am going to learn to play this.’ At age 17, he started his career as a church organist. He played in many churches across Minnesota, most recently at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Duluth. He was a member of the American Organist Guild. He will be remembered for his writing, love of reading, dry sense of humor, curiosity and compassion for others.

He is preceded in death by; his parents, son William Percy III; sister Carol Cooper.

William will be greatly missed by; wife Nancy; three children Amy, Jennifer (Stephen Silbert), Emily; sister Mary Beth Percy; numerous nieces and two nephews; extended family and friends.

The family would like to express their extreme gratitude to the medical staff at St. Luke’s Hospital, in particular Dr. Paul Sanford.
