William “Bill” Black, 64, died April 13, 2018 with his family at his side. He was born October 3, 1953 to Lloyd and Catherine Black in Duluth.

He was a lifelong resident of Duluth and graduated in 1972 from Denfeld High School. Bill worked for Highland Super Value for 18 ½ years until its closing. Worked a few different jobs until finally going to work at Metz Baking (Bimbo Bakery) for 17 years. Before retiring for medical reasons he worked for the City of Superior as a seasonal worker with the parks and rec division. It was a job he greatly loved and enjoyed. Over the years since high school Bill was an avid softball player. Playing for Budweiser in the senior rec. He also had a great pride in being on the board of directors, as vice president, of ASPA during the development and erection of the concession complex.

He is survived by his best friend and as he always put it “my better half” for the last 30 years Sharen Olthoff and her son Shawn Michael; his children Jason (Nicole), Brian (Marcie), Stefanie (Roger); father Lloyd Sr.; brother Lloyd Jr. ‘Butch’ (Diane), Ronald, sister Candace (Dennis); ex-wife Sandra Black, the mother of his children; several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.

He is preceded in death by; mother Catherine and maternal and paternal grandparents.
