Tina “TTG” Thielen Gaffey, 50, passed away peacefully at St. Luke’s Hospital after an unintentional drug overdose. She was born July 9, 1967 to to Roger and Joan Thielen in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Tina’s family moved to New London, Wisconsin, and she graduated from New London High School in 1985. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay and became a music teacher. She received a master’s degree from Western Michigan University, and taught music at the University of Minnesota–Duluth for 16 years. Tina achieved a Doctor of Musical Arts degree arts from the University of Iowa, and most recently taught music in the Drummond, Wisconsin public school district.

The room lit up when Tina was in it–her vivacious presence was larger than life. She was passionate about her kids, her music, and her students. Tina’s tenacity and her love will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her brother Timmy.

Tina is survived by husband James; two daughters, Michaela and Ella; two sisters, Kim Thielen and Tammy (Mike) Herminath; parents Roger and Joan (Cherney) Thielen; nieces and nephews; and extended family and many friends.
