Mary Ann Host (Sbroglia) passed on to meet her beloved husband George on November 25, 2019 in loving care at the Benedictine Health Center-Marywood in Duluth. Mary was born James and Natalina Sbroglia on a farm in Adena Ohio on January 20, 1929 and moved to Cleveland at the age of 6 months. Mary came from a large family; she was the youngest of 10 sisters, with an older and younger brother. She was preceded in death by her older brother Leo (Ann), sisters Alma (Joe), Agnes (Harry), Rose (Phil), Gloria, Margaret (Harold), Ann (Wasil), Florence and younger brother James. Mary is survived by sisters Theresa (Peter), Helen (Edward), sister-in-law Nancy Host, and many loving nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her loving son George, his wife Connie, and beloved grandsons Trevor and Evan. Mary graduated from East High School and went on to become a switchboard operator at Ohio Bell, where she fell in love with and married George Host. In 1964 Mary and George moved from West Cleveland to suburbs of Fairview Park, where she lived as a mother, homemaker, and frequent volunteer at St. Angela Merici Parish. George passed in 1992 and in 2008 Mary moved to Duluth, MN to be closer to her son’s family.

Mary was a loving, funny and devoted mother and grandmother, and we all we miss her dearly. We express our deep appreciation to the staff at Westwood Terrace and Marywood for their many years of care. A celebration of her life for family and friends will be held in Cleveland in Spring 2019. Memorial donations should be sent to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, a cause important to Mary and all of us.
