Jay Henry Wellberg, 70, went home to be with the Lord Friday Oct. 14, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. He was born December 14, 1945 in Duluth.

Jay enjoyed fishing, gardening, and reading the bible. He loved children and the elderly. Jay’s kindness and understanding were hallmarks of his friendship. Jay could be as silly as a clown with his humor.

He is survived by; his loving wife Pat; stepdaughter Sherry (Steven) Ostrander; sister Georgia (Donald) Nygaard; nephews Jeff (Chanita) Nygaard, Jim Nygaard; sister-in-laws JoAnn (Jeff) Wallgren, Sandi (Tom) Kienzle; many nieces and nephews; devoted furry companion Duke; numerous friends and neighbors.

The family would like to thank Dr. Anne Silve-Benedict, Dr. Luke Midlo, and the St. Luke’s Oncology, Infusion, and Hospice unit for the warm and loving care they provided Jay (and the hugs).

Visitation begins 10:00 am until the 11:00 am Memorial Service, Saturday October 22, 2016 at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 1325 N 45th Ave E, Duluth. Memorials preferred to the American Cancer Society.
