James K. Hepokoski, age 75, passed away peacefully Wednesday March 26, 2014 at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth. He was born July 19, 1938 to Allan and Lela (Isaacs) Hepokoski in Deer River, MN.
Jim taught elementary school in Maple school district for 30 years, retiring in 1996. Jim enjoyed gardening and sharing his bountiful harvests with friends and neighbors, and his winter vacations in Hawaii.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son Charles; brother Raymond.
Jim is survived by his wife Jeanette; children Tim (Leigh) H., Scott (Melissa) H., Daniel H.; grandchildren Brian, Mika; 10 siblings Allan (Diane) H., Arlene (Jim) Kauppila, Ann (Dale) Hintsala, Mary (Jerry) Wagner, Verna (Wayne) Ford, John H., Matt (Susanne) H., Mark H., Susan (Mike) Lahti; Irene (Todd) Salmela; extended family and friends.
Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Sunday March 30, 2014 at the Finnish Apostolic Lutheran Church on Big Lake Rd, Cloquet MN. There will be a visitation from 11:00 am prior to services. Services by Affordable Cremation & Burial 218-491-7011.
