Duane Richard Fredrickson, of Superior, passed away Thursday September 14, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was born March 24, 1932 in Superior, son of Alfred & Dorothy (Salmonson) Fredrickson.

He was a 1950 graduate of Central High School. He was confirmed at Pilgrim Lutheran Church. He was a Corporal in the U.S. Army & Stationed in Germany as a translator during the Korean war. After leaving the Army he had various jobs; in the parks department, bookkeeper for Red Owl, owned Stoplight Grocery & Jiffy Pizza, worked for the food stamp office & retired from the Salvation Army as a janitor. He was a mentor for a low income children’s program, a basketball coach & provided videos for the local PACT station. He was a friend of the Library & a soldier in the Salvation Army & an annual bell ringer at Christmas & in July. He was an avid reader of scientific books & journals about the brain, an amateur writer/screenwriter & studied linguistics & yoga. He collected videos, books & DVD’s. He was a longtime friend & mentor to LeRoy Anderson & William Bosley.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include cousins Joanne (Scott) Emberson, Superior, Diane (Archie) Sales, Savage, MN., Sandi Olson, St. Paul MN., Roger (Shari) Olson Bloomington MN., Second Cousins, Amanda, Alisa & Christopher Sales Savage MN, & longtime friend Joseph Jolicoeur, Superior & friends at the Washington Apts. & around town.
