Dorothy (Dottie) Mae Anderson of Duluth, passed away in the early hours of Sunday, July 30, 2017 at the age of 93. Dottie was a longtime member of Concordia Lutheran Church and spent her life helping others in many ways. She also was a volunteer at St.Lukes Hospital and for Meals on Wheels.

To know Dottie was to love her. The words her family routinely heard about her were classy, lovely lady, wonderful person, an angel on earth, just to name a few. Leading by example, she has left big shoes for us to fill and we hope we can follow in her footsteps and make her proud.

Mom used to complain that we didn’t visit or call more often. That was because she was never home!! “Somebody” made sure she knew we had tried by opening all of her drawers, leaving notes all over the house, turning her prized possessions upside down… Adventure was her middle name. Either with a best friend or alone, on a rainy day she spontaneously set off to find the sun wherever that may be. She never knew her final destination until she reached it. She left on July 30th in search of the sun once again. It gives us peace to know that she most certainly found it in the arms of her God and those loved ones who passed before her.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roger Victor Anderson and her parents, Frieda and Abel Englund. She is survived by her children Sandra Kohn (David), David Anderson (Jodi) and Vickie Jazdzewski (Mark); grandchildren Gretchen, Christopher and Ashley Anderson, Molly Jazdzewski, Amanda Hill (James), and David, Becky and Jason Kohn (Ursula) as well as 5 great-grandchildren. She also had numerous grand-dogs whom she was learning to love despite her objection to doggie kisses.

There will be no official service. Her wish was to have her family gather together to celebrate her life at “Dot’s Spot” which was the family cabin on Briar Lake.
